Peak To Peak Gondola
In December 2008, Whistler Blackcomb opened the new Peak To Peak Gondola. This engineering feat is a North American first and, at over 3km (almost 2 miles), it is the longest free-span lift in the world! Strung on four towers between the Roundhouse on Whistler and the Rendezvous on Blackcomb, 28 cabins cruise up to 415m (about 454 yards) above Fitzsimmons Creek. The cabins, each carrying up to 28 passengers, depart every minute and take about 11 minutes to make the crossing.
Whistler in Winter
Whistler is the site of Canada's 2010 Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games alpine events. With one of the largest patrolled ski areas, the resort's two huge mountains offer something for everyone: Beginners through experts, skiers and snowboarders - plus many other on- and off-snow activities! A Whistler ski vacation has gentle bunny hills for novices, long steep trails for speed freaks, technically challenging runs with moguls and trees, and everything in between! There are twelve alpine bowls with plenty of off-piste action and, of course, terrain parks and half pipes, too!
